| What do you want the process to do? The Targets you set are numbers that
say "this is what we want to happen". These numbers can define
manufactured goods, service or behavior outcomes... anything you want to measure
that affects the achievement of your mission. For example: "To fit in the furniture I'm building, I want this piece of wood to be 2 1/4 inches wide." |
Since we know that all process have natural variation,
is "zero variation" then a good expectation? Absolutely not! So, the question is not
only "what's the target average result", but also "how much variation is acceptable?" |
